The Film

A 90-minute feature about masking grief with pleasure, and disaster with reckless escape.

Benny is haunted by the death of his fiancée, Sarah, who was killed in a car accident. Though it wasn't his fault, he cannot shake the guilt that he is to blame.

In his spiral, he reconnects with Kam, a troubled childhood friend who lures him into a scheme of small-time robbery, insurance fraud, and extortion — all part of a desperate plan to raise enough money to flee to Mexico and leave their broken lives behind.

What begins as escape becomes a collision course with everything Benny has been running from.

Shervin Nassi

When I was sixteen, I thought I was going to a car show. I downed my morning chocolate milk, fell asleep in the car, and woke up three hours later in Hancock, NY. I'd been tricked — it wasn't a car show, but a military religious boarding school.

There, I met one of my closest friends, Ian Friedman. We arrived around the same time — he was from Queens, I was from Long Island. He loved films, as did I, and we dreamed of making one together.

Eventually, Ian disappeared to LA. I never thought it would be the last time I saw him. Years passed. One day, Ian took his life.

We never said goodbye. We never made our film. The idea of Ian haunts me still. But this film is for him — an homage to a friend, and an attempt to grapple with grief, loss, and the roads we once walked together.
